Why should you join our programme?

We’ve been helping people back to work for a long time – nearly 20 years in fact. And during that time we’ve learnt a lot. We understand how important work is in helping someone to maximise their full potential – but we also know that getting back into work after a long absence or finding a job for the first time, can be hard. And even a little bit scary.

That’s why we have a unique service offer which is built around you. This will be different for every single person that comes through our doors, but the outcome is normally the same – an individual on a path to a brighter future.

Links to Work is a voluntary programme – it’s your choice whether you join. We hope you do though as we’d love to support you!

Our services

We employ a bunch of talented and friendly people

Our people are what make Working Links special – everyone we employ wants to make a social difference. From the receptionist who will greet you, to the person that might pick up your call, to the dedicated consultant that will support you, you’ll get the same level of excellent service in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We’ll always be respectful of you and your circumstances, although that doesn’t mean there won’t be difficult conversations as to be able to help and move you forward towards your goals, sometimes these conversations are needed.

We’ll take the time to really get to know you

It might start with a phone call, a cuppa and a chat or a welcome session – whatever we think is the best way for you to start your journey with us. You will have your own personal consultant who will help you plan your journey back into work. They will work with you to identify your strengths, skills and abilities and identify any barriers you may have to employment.

We want to understand your needs, circumstances and aspirations to ensure we are giving you the right support and ultimately to help you achieve your goals.

We’ll design a package of support which is right for you

We recognise that everyone’s life is different and you might be further away from the job market than others. That’s why we tailor our approach so that our service is individual to you.

As part of this support package we’ll help you with the basics, such as how to write a CV, search and apply for jobs, fill in application forms and prepare for interviews. As well as providing much more focused support around:

  • health and wellbeing – feeling good about yourself is important and we can give you access to our in-house health professionals where you can discuss and get help with depression, anxiety, stress, confidence, sleeping problems and more.
  • basic skills – good English, maths and IT skills are needed for most workplaces and we can help you gain them. Our easy to use online tools will improve your computer skills, develop your maths and English and get you ahead in the search for a job.
  • confidence and motivation – we’ll help you to build your confidence and get motivated for the world of work.

We can support you to find the right job and put you in touch with employers

We will work with you to identify your skills and match these to a job that is right for you. We work with a wide range of employers, across different work areas, to identify suitable vacancies and we can put you in touch with them to help you on your journey to securing and sustaining employment.

In addition to this we can help you to arrange work trials and gain some real work experience through voluntary placements, that will help you to benefit from up-to-date references.

Once in work, we’ll continue to support you

Once you are in work our support doesn’t stop there. We’ll keep in touch with you to make sure everything’s going well. We’ll be on hand to answer any questions, and to support you with any challenges you might face.

You can find out more about 'Your area' from the main menu and if you are still not sure, then please register and we will get back to you very soon.
