Robert proves that employment can change your life
Newcastle man, Robert Duffy, has been supported into sustainable employment via the Links to Work programme and he’s looking forward to changing his finances and living arrangements for the better.
Robert, 23, had been unable to find a permanent job for over three years before joining the programme, leading to financial issues and less than desirable living conditions. Rob knew that sustainable employment was the key to turning his issues around so joined Links to Work.
Robert also suffered with low confidence, a trait that he felt was being prejudged by employers. Robert felt our expert help in overcoming barriers might just be what he needed.
Robert was assigned a Personal Consultant, Gillian Glindon, who built a package of support tailored to his needs.
After attending interview skills sessions, working on his CV and application writing with Gillian, and finally attending a 10 day hospitality skills course Robert’s confidence was starting to increase.
Robert said: “It is important to me to know that I am doing and saying the right things as I usually doubt myself. Since working with Links to Work and Gillian I can speak to employers confidently and professionally.”
Robert proved this in his recent interview with a high street fast food chain. Robert was offered the job with a permanent contract. He’s in work, looking forward to dealing with his financial issues and saving up for a flat with his best mate.
Good luck, Robert!
