Malcolm back in work after four years unemployed

One of our Nottingham customers has recently found work after attending our accredited skills courses.

Malcolm Edwards, 50, has got over 12 years’ experience working in supermarkets but after enduring difficult personal circumstances became unemployed in 2014. Many years of trying to find work led Martin to a place of low confidence. He felt like giving up but recently joined the Links to Work programme for another shot at getting a job.

Malcolm was referred to our recently launched skills courses. First joining the City & Guilds accredited ‘Personal Impact’ course, a workshop designed to help our customer maximise their impact when it comes to the job application process.

Amy, our Nottingham skills tutor, recognised that Malcolm’s confidence was still forming a barrier to finding employment so enrolled him on the ‘Developing Personal Power’ course. A SFEDI accredited course designed to equip participants with increased assertiveness and resilience, ready for the workplace.

Malcolm’s personal consultant managed to secure him an interview for a retail assistant role in a local Sainsbury’s store. With his newfound attitude and increased confidence Malcolm was able to secure the role and begins work in a weeks time.

Malcolm’s feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time, he said: “My future will get better as I’ve got a job”.
