Dale secures first ever job

Leicester man Dale Sharpe has secured his first ever paid job after receiving help from our partners delivering the Links to Work programme.

Dale had previously been unable to gain employment citing his learning difficulties and the fact that he went to a special needs school as a major barrier to finding work.

Dale has always wanted to work since leaving school so enrolled with Workpays who deliver the Links to Work programme in parts of Leicestershire on our behalf.

Partnered with his own personal work coach, Dale undertook courses in English, maths, and employability skills – all of which he passed. Dale also gained new computer skills and was supported to create a CV for potential employers to look at, search for jobs and submit applications.

Through tailored sessions, Dale’s confidence grew, and he was succesful in gaining paid work for the first time in his life. Dale works 10 hours a week as a cleaner.

Dale continues to work with Workpays attending skills courses and getting support to search for a full-time job.

Dale said: "I feel I have had a lot of support from Workpays."
