Why should you join our programme?
We've helped nearly 300,000 people into work over 18 years we've been operating.
We understand how important finding the right type of work is in helping someone to lead a fulfilling life – but we also know that getting back into work after a long absence or finding a job for the first time can be hard. And even a little bit scary.
That’s why our service offer is built around you and your needs. We work at a pace that suits you, establishing a different set of activities for each person that comes through our doors; the outcome is normally the same – an individual on a path to a brighter future.
Links to Work is a voluntary programme – it’s your choice whether you join. We hope you do though as we’d love to support you.
All our people want to make a social difference. From the individual who will greet you, to the person that picks up your call, to the dedicated consultant who will support you, you’ll get the same level of dedicated service in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We’ll always be respectful of you and your circumstances.
Getting to know you
Your journey with us starts with us getting to know you. This could be via a phone call, over a cuppa, during a welcome session – whatever works best for you.
We’ll assign you your very own personal consultant who will help you plan your journey back into work. They will work with you to identify your strengths, skills and abilities and identify any barriers you may have to employment.
We want to understand your needs, circumstances and aspirations to ensure we are giving you the right support and ultimately to help you achieve your goals.
We’ll design a package of support which is right for you
We recognise that everyone’s life is different that’s why we tailor our approach so that our service is unique to you and your needs.
As part of the package we’ll help you with job application basics, such as help with:
- writing a CV
- searching and applying for jobs
- filling in application forms
- preparing for interviews.
As well as providing much more focused support around:
Health and wellbeing
Feeling good about yourself and knowing that your employer is catering to any health-related requirements you might have is crucial for a happy work life.
If you feel an aspect of your health is preventing you from finding suitable employment, we can assign you support from one of our qualified in-house health professionals. You’ll be able to discuss and get help with depression, anxiety, stress, confidence, sleeping problems as well as a number of physical disorders.
Our health and wellbeing support doesn’t stop when you find work. We will continue to work with you and your employer to provide tailored support.
Good English, maths and IT skills are needed for most workplaces and we can help you gain them.
Our easy to use online tools will improve your computer skills, develop your maths and English and get you ahead in the search for a job.
Confidence and motivation
We’ll help you to build your confidence and get motivated for the world of work.
We can support you to find the right job and put you in touch with employers
We will work with you to identify your skills and match these to a job that is right for you.
We work with a wide range of employers, across different work areas, to identify suitable vacancies and we can put you in touch with them to help you on your journey to securing and sustaining employment.
In addition to this we can help you to arrange work trials and gain some real work experience through voluntary placements. This will help give you up-to-date workplace skills as well as recent references.
Once in work, we’ll continue to support you
Once you are in work our support doesn’t stop there. We’ll keep in touch with you to make sure everything’s going well. We’ll be on hand to answer any questions, and to support you with any challenges you might face.
You can find out more about 'Your area' from the main menu and if you are still not sure, then please register and we will get back to you very soon.
Links to Work is a voluntary programme – it’s your choice whether you join. We hope you do though as we’d love to support you!
